‘Snails in raised bed’ disfigure and disturb people's conventionally trained sense of aesthetics by eating leaves. ‘Schnecken im Hochbeet’ are a four-piece band from Munich. Perhaps their music also disturbs people's conventionally trained sense of hearing. Danceable pop? Yes, but something is not quite right. At times, stories in a fable-like narrative form clearly become metaphors with a political emphasis, then more philosophical and ultimately none of that really. Musical instruments are radically misappropriated and everything is somewhat abstract. The abstract disturbs conventionally trained thinking. It offers the possibility of leaving conditioned thought patterns and linking them differently. Dance the pessimism;...... and now the idealism. Babi B., Eva B., Suse B. and Erol D. invent punk for the present and take many other things with them. There is no goal, the direction remains uncertain. In two years' time, their music could sound completely different. Who knows for sure.
